The retirement age

For anyone born after 1948 the Act sets one condition: reaching the age. There is no minimum period of insurance that gates the right to a pension at all — periods affect its SIZE, and separately whether it is raised to the minimum. This page shows where those two things part company.

Two ages, one condition

The Act says co najmniej — at least: 60 years for women and 65 years for men. It is a threshold, not a date — nothing requires the claim to be made on the birthday.

No minimum period gates the right itself

There is no minimum contribution period for ENTITLEMENT. It is enough that the insured, born after 1948, has reached the pension age. Contribution and non-contribution periods do not gate the pension — they scale it, because they are what the account balance the formula divides is made of. The twenty-year and twenty-five-year counts a reader will have heard of are the condition for the TOP-UP TO THE MINIMUM, which is a different thing: without them the pension is still paid, just not raised.

What working longer does

Every extra month worked acts along two paths at once: it adds contributions to the numerator, and it moves the denominator down a row, because the table is stated for completed years and months. The art. 26 formula itself carries no percentage uplift for deferring — the whole effect comes from those two things.

Early routes the Act states in full

Beside the general age the Act provides separate mining pensions, with their own age and their own service condition. They are not early drawings of the general pension and no reduction applies to them.

Poland has further early routes this section does not describe — arts. 46, 47, 50 and 184, and the bridging pension promised by art. 24 ust. 2, which is in a separate Act. Their reduced ages are not in this Act at all: art. 32 ust. 4 fixes them „na podstawie przepisów dotychczasowych”, instruments from before 1999 that were not retrieved. No age is stated for them here.
